Foods to Fight DHT Hair Loss

May 20th, 2010

Did you know that some foods may inhibit the production of DHT in the human body?  The purpose of this article is to provide some helpful information about foods that you can incorporate into your daily diet. These foods can work in conjunction with your Anti DHT Shampoo and/or DHT blocker treatments that you are currently using. You will find that most of the food listed below have and abundance of Zinc.

Zinc is essential to hair growth as it provides essential proteins to the hair follicles and scalp. It helps to protect again dry scalp and flaking of the scalp. As our bodies age, along with daily stresses, we may experience a depletion of zinc.

Although zinc is not a standalone solution to prevent DHT hair loss, it certainly helps to have an abundance of zinc stores in our bodies.

Soy (Soy Isoflavones):  Soymilk, edamame, tofu and soynuts are very rich in Zinc.

Wheat Germ , Seafoods and Wheat Bran: These food groups  are abundant in Zinc. A depletion of Zinc in the body contributes to hair loss and hair thinning. so it is vital to counter Zinc depletion in the human body. Oysters provide the highest amount of Zinc in any food currently available. (100g of oyseter=25mg of Zinc)

Green Tea (Camellia sinensis): Green Tea is an antioxidant which helps to lower cholesterol. Maintaining low cholesterol levels is important overall, but equally important in the hair growth process. The enzyme 5 alpha reductase which is responsible for converting testosterone into Dihydrotestosterone, finds its production in high cholesterol levels. In essence, the higher the cholesterol level, the more likely 5 alpha reductase will be found in larger quantities.

These are just a few food items that contain excellent sources of zinc and antioxidants to reduce cholesterol levels. Hopefully you can make these items a part of your daily diet.

In contrast, there are certain foods that you should avoid while attempting to regrow your hair. Foods that have animal fat content lend themselves to producing 5 alpha reductase so avoid these foods whenever possible. Listed below are other foods to avoid:

Stimulants such as Coffee, Tea, and alcohol can decrease the level of Zinc in the body.

Salty Foods: Excessive amounts of iodine in the body can decrease oxygen rich nutrients from reaching the scalp and hair follicles causing hair loss.

As you continue you current regimen of fighting DHT hair loss, incorporate as many of the good food items listed above to maximize your efforts of regaining your healthy head of hair!

Women’s Hair Loss

May 19th, 2010

While women’s hair loss varies due to several causes, androgenetic alopecia (patterned baldness) is the specific type of hair loss that we will be discussing today.

What Causes Androgenetic Alopecia?

Women’s bodies also produce testosterone but less than half of their male counterpart. An enzyme called 5-alpha-reductase is responsible for converting this testosterone to Dihydrotestosterone or DHT. DHT travels through the bloodstream, where some continually reside in the scalp. It then binds to the hair follicles, prohibiting essential nutrients from reaching the cortex layer of the hair.

The hair follicles go through two types of phases: growing phase (between 2-6 years) and a resting phase (~90 days).  The binding DHT decreases the hair growth phase and forces the hair to enter into the resting phase at an accelerated rate.

Subsequently, when the hair enters any future growth phases, the hair begins to exhibit a thinner appearance due to the lack of nutrients to the hair. DHT in the scalp decreases proper blood circulation within the scalp which carries these oxygen rich nutrients essential for healthy hair.

Over time breakage occurs and due to the presence of DHT, the hair loses its strength to reach surface of the scalp. Androgenetic alopecia soon follows thereafter.

What Products Can Effectively Treat Female Hair Loss?

Understanding that a woman’s hair is her shining glory and thanks to the recent advances in science, there is help available to fight against DHT hair loss. There are two products that have shown favorable results in combatting DHT hair loss: Anti DHT Shampoo and DHT Blocker/Inhibitor.

DHT Shampoo

Anti DHT Shampoo works by neutralizing the DHT production in the scalp and blocking its harmful effects. Through continuous use of the DHT shampoo, the hair follicle begins to regain its strength, producing a thicker and healthier hair.

DHT shampoo has proven to be very effective due to specifically targeting Dihydrotestosterone bound to the hair follicles. One of the most well know and respected DHT Shampoos available is Nisim. Nisim Guarantees to stop excessive hair loss in one week!

DHT Blockers/Inhibitor

Due to the varying causes of hair loss, women’s hair loss treatment(s) are very much different than men’s hair loss products. One of the more successful products used to treat women’s hair loss is Provillus Hair Loss Treatment for Women.

This product has the only  FDA approved topical ingredient used to promote female hair growth renewal and many of women have used this product to regrow a healthier and stronger head of hair.

Losing your hair or observing the hair thinning is no easy task for anyone. Hopefully this article provided some helpful insight into this growing problem and provided ways that you may aggresively fight to prevent excessive hair loss.

Mens Hair Loss and Frontal Baldness

May 19th, 2010

In most cases of male pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia), DHT (dihydrotestosterone) formation in the scalp is the major cause amongst all other causes. Dihydrotestosterone comprises of an androgen called testosterone and the enzyme 5 alpha reductase. Dihydrotestosterone in itself is not entirely bad. DHT has a major role in bone mass formation and proper muscle growth.

In contrast, DHT can have devastating effects upon the hair follicles. As DHT travels through the bloodstream, it is carried to the scalp. The newly formed hormone then binds itself to the hair follicles, beginning the hair loss process.

The human hair typically goes through two phases: The growth phase (2-6 yrs) and the resting phase (90 days). As DHT attaches itself to the follicles of the hair, it interrupts the growth phase by reducing the oxygen rich nutrients from reaching the hair’s cortex (decreased blood flow).

Due to lack of nutrition over a prolonged period of time, the hair enters into the resting phase at much faster rates because it cannot sustain the needed energy for proper hair growth. As the hair continue these cycles over, a thinning hair appearance begins to display itself. Usually at these stages is when hair loss begins to occur.

The hair becomes so thin and brittle, it may sometimes ‘break off’ at the cortex. Hair follicles attempt regrowth but are too thin to reach the surface of the scalp, causing baldness and hair loss.

Another common hair loss problem in men is frontal baldness. This is evidenced by the receeding hairline and the temple region. Dihydrotestosterone is the major culprit for this particular hair loss as well.

What Can Be Done to Stop or Prevent DHT Hair Loss or Frontal Baldness?

Thanks to recent advances in science, help is now available to treat hair loss caused by DHT: DHT Shampoo and Hair DHT Blocker.

DHT Shampoo

Anti DHT Shampoo  is designed to neutralize Dihydrotestosterone in the scalp and helps prevent DHT from bonding to the hair follicles. One of the best known DHT shampoos is Nisim, which  Guarantees to prevent EXCESSIVE hair loss within one week. Speaking from experience, this is an excellent product and it works extremely well!

Hair DHT Blocker

Hair DHT blocker or inhibitors work by blocking the formation of DHT, resulting in less hair loss. Most hair DHT blockers are in an oral pill form.

A note of caution: some DHT blockers/inhibitors may cause an adverse reaction with testosterone in the body and cause sexual side effects. Always use due diligence when selecting an acceptable DHT blocker.

Two very well known DHT blockers for men are Procerin and Provillus Hair Treatment for Men. Both have been used successful by many males to stop or inhibit production of DHT, leading to a fuller and healthier hair growth. Procerin has shown to be very effective without sexual side effects that some prescription medications present which is a big plus!

Whether you are suffering from hair loss or frontal baldness, it would be beneficial to beging treating this growing problem immediately. By doing so, your efforts to break down the DHT molecules in your scalp could very well hinder the destructive effects of dihydrotestone’s presence in your scalp.

What Makes DHT Shampoo an Effective Hair Regrowth Shampoo?

May 18th, 2010

You may have asked yourself “what makes anti dht shampoo so different from other types of shampoos?” This is valid and certainly an understandable question. Lets discuss some of the key ingredients in found in leading DHT shampoos.

Saw palmetto Extract (Serenoa repens or Sabal serrulata) - Helps to break down the testosterone molecules that are binding to the hair follicles. As the molecules are broken down, blood circulation and nutrition to the scalp is increased thereafter encouraging new hair growth.

Cysteine- Hair follicles need a continuous flow of amino acids via the bloodstream to promote and maintain hair growth. One of the most relied upon amino acids for hair growth is Cysteine. The chemical properties found in Cysteine are made up of sulfur molecules which provide additional strength to the hair.

Inositol- A carbohydrate that works at the cellular level and is also a non essential Vitamin B complex. Through several tests, inositol has shown to be very effective in thickening of the hair follicle(s).

Biotin- Part of the Vitamin B family. Biotin works the cortex (root) of the hair follicle and provides strength and elasticity to the hair.

Panthenol- Also part of the Vitamin B family. Panthenol has shown to be very effective to invigorate the scalp, reduce split ends and provide moisture to the hair follicles. A moisturized scalp is key for the task of hair regrowth.

In Summary

Since DHT hair loss is a specific type of hair loss, it would only seem reasonable to find a specific product type to treat this problem. What makes Anti DHT Shampoo an effective hair regrowth shampoo is because it is formulated to penetrate down through the epidermis of the scalp and make its way to the dermis layer where the hair follicles are seated. Since the hair follicles are in this deep layer of the scalp, it is important for DHT shampoo to have deep cleaning capabilities.

These are but a few of the major ingredients of DHT shampoo. It is always best to start combatting DHT hair loss as soon as possible and DHT Shampoo presents a powerful option as a hair regrowth shampoo. Preserving or encouraging hair loss affected by DHT certainly has been made more obtainable through scientific research and study.

As always, do your due diligence when researching the best product for your particular type of hair loss.

One of the main causes of patterned baldness (androgenic alopecia) is due to the presence of DHT or Dihydrotestosterone in the scalp. The process of attaching itself to the hair follices decreases blood circulation, blocking essential nutrients from reaching the scalp. Over a period of time, hair weakens to a point where breakage at the root begins to occur. As the hair attempts to regrow itself, the strands of hair have become too brittle and thin to reach the surface of the scalp-resulting in hair loss.

As you have seen, it is necessary to use a specific types hair regrowth shampoo for DHT hair loss. In this way, you can empower yourself with the best tools available to combat DHT hair loss.
